Small Wins. Big Momentum.
Small wins are often the foundation of long term confidence, growth and meaningful change. Back when I was leading HR in a hotel, the wins we celebrated were big and bold like revenue milestones, guest service scores, brand awards. You know the kind. They made great headlines.
But I’ve come to believe in something even more powerful as a coach. Small wins are the real power behind big dreams.
I’ve seen it several times in my clients and in myself. Those everyday moments where someone takes a step forward, even a small one. That’s where the shift happens. That’s where confidence grows and momentum builds.
One client in particular stands out. She had a heart felt dream to create a nonprofit for youth, helping them find purpose and direction. But her vision felt unclear and fuzzy, and without a plan she could communicate clearly, she doubted herself.
Together, we clarified her mission, outlined her values, and mapped out what she’d need to grow. That clarity led her to apply for a new role that would help to equip her for the future she imagined but the waiting period was tough.
And so, she chose to create momentum in her own way. She built a recognition/rewards box for her coworkers. She tested small ways to practice the leadership she wanted to bring into her nonprofit. She learned, she grew, and she celebrated the small wins.
And that I believe, more than anything, kept her connected to her bigger dream.
Here’s what I want you to know:
You don’t have to wait for the final destination to feel proud. You don’t have to wait for the offer letter, the promotion, or the public applause to recognize your effort.
Instead, get intentional about wins. Pause and celebrate when you:
- Send out five quality resumes.
- Have a tough conversation you’ve been putting off.
- Make a choice that aligns with your values.
And reward yourself in ways that feel real. Not just a daily latte, but something that recharges you like:
- That yoga class you’ve been eyeing.
- Attending the sunflower festival with your camera in hand.
- A lazy morning with a notebook and zero plans.
Because when you appreciate your progress, you remind yourself that you are making progress. That makes a big difference.
As Robert Brault said, “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.”
Not sure what your next step is? Let’s uncover it together and make sure you celebrate it when it comes. I invite you to book a Discovery call and look forward to our partnership. www.janettegoodmancoaching.com
